Student Career Quiz Options with Career Central
Earlier this week we held a webinar refresh session on the different student career quiz options available via the Bulls-Eye module on the Career Central platform. In this article we provide a brief overview of the session.
Since 2012 hundreds of thousands of students have used our original career quiz – the Future Pathways Assessment. In addition to our Future Pathways Assessment, we have three other quiz options available within the Bulls-Eye career quiz module. For an overview of each quiz and recommendations on their use, see below.
Work Clusters Quiz
A visually oriented career quiz which provides ranked results against a range of career pathways. In New Zealand these pathways are aligned to the TEC Occupational Clusters. While in Australia they are aligned to the FYA Occupational Clusters.
Recommended use: ideal for junior students. Or for older students with English as a second language.
Future Pathways Assessment
Tried and tested for over ten years this 20-minute career quiz combines Holland Theory with an extensive database of job tasks. These jobs tasks are derived from the Australia & New Zealand Standard Classification of Occupations (ANZSCO). Students receive ranked results against 27 future pathways (job clusters) supported by online content and a pdf report.
Recommended use: ideal at Year 9 or 10 as a lead into subject selection and SET planning. Also, a useful revisit for senior students to support course selection and/or post school decisions.
Vocational Pathways Assessment
This 15-minute career quiz combines Holland Theory with job tasks. These jobs tasks are derived from the ANZ Standard Classification of Occupations (ANZSCO). Students receive ranked results against 23 vocational pathways (clusters) supported by online content and a pdf report. This content is focused on vocational occupations and training (non-university).
Recommended use: ideal for senior students who have made the decision that a university pathway is not for them and would like to explore other options.
Personal Strengths Quiz
New in 2023 the Personal Strengths Quiz is based on five factor personality theory. It provides students with information about five personal dimensions in a pdf report. This report focuses on identifying student strengths and considers occupational context.
Recommended use: works especially well with all levels when completed in combination with About Me modules and Future Pathways Assessment. Also, ideal for senior students to support their post school decision making.
